Difference between News & Periodicals

The category of News is defined as offering material on a daily basis, whereas Periodicals are published on a less-than-daily basis.

Classifying them this way can be a judgement call since, partly due to the transition from print to web-based format, it can be difficult to distinguish some older “weekly” or “monthly” sources that now publish stories on a near-daily (or at least continuous) basis rather than, say, a weekly basis (for example, environmental coverage by Time and New Scientist).
