“Ungulates”
· While the term “ungulates” generally means “hooved mammal,” it is not easy to pin down a widely
accepted formal or informal definition, and it seems to be a designation that has been dropped from
modern taxonomic systems. It includes, but is not limited to, the oders of artiodactyla and perriso-
dactyla (see below).

Mammals
"...a data management system and archive for camera trap research projects. This cyber-tool is designed to not only be useful to scientists, but also to the citizen scientists who aid scientists in photo collection. Camera trappers use our software to look at pictures, identify animals and upload them for review and archive at the Smithsonian. These data then help address important conservation-related questions. The pictures provide a unique view into the secret world of wildlife."
Mammals constitute a taxonomic Class, which
fits into taxonomic ranking as:
Domain
Kingdom
Phylum
Class → Mammals
Order
Family
Genus
Species
· Below, this page lists mammals by taxonomic
Order, which are listed alphabetically and
highlighted in bold blue text.
· Subgroups (that is, taxa of varying levels that
are lower than Order) are in bold black text.
Why not put marine mammals here on this page? There's no reason not to do that...but they are placed under Aquatic life > Marine taxa > Marine mammals since most conservation measures "fit" better here.
